This course makes the most of your innate love affair with music to explore more deeply how sounds are mysteriously and magically combined to stir our emotions. Armed with only the common musical terms you already know, in just a few sessions you will:
- experience in a new way your favorite kinds of music and discover many you didn't even know existed, then through listening and discussion, explore what they have in common and what makes each one unique;
- learn to hear all aspects of any piece of music beyond just the lyrics and melody;
- learn to follow the narrative aspect of a work from start to finish by listening actively and without the aid of visual cues; and
- develop your ability to discuss your likes and dislikes of any piece in an informed, intelligent manner after just one hearing.
